How Does it Work

In this simulation, students play the role of a new CEO of a struggling automotive parts manufacturer. Students will create the firm’s strategy and use a strategy map and balanced scorecard to execute the firm’s strategy and conduct a performance evaluation. Students will spend the next eight six-month periods (four years) implementing their chosen strategy by choosing investments to fund within the limits of budget constraints.

Students will get feedback on their company’s performance in the form of firm financial statements and scorecard metrics. Successful firms will use this feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of their initiative choices and adjust their chosen initiatives to optimize the implementation of their strategy.

At the completion of the eight periods, an investment firm buys the equity of the company. The goal of the simulation is to maximize firm value at the time of the buyout - the buyout price being based on the company's financial position and future prospects.
